BIG SIT at Veterans Oasis Park is designed for all nature lovers including those with accessibility challenges; wheelchairs, walkers, or other assistive devices. Each registered participant is welcome to bring a support person. This park has riparian and desert habitats within an easy distance from the parking lot.
This event is open to everyone. We gather in chairs or on benches and watch the birds from a “sitting” position, or meander about inside a defined area. A scope will be provided for everyone to get a longer view across the lake or in a far tree. The peaceful 5-acre lake and native trees and shrubs draw a variety of local and migrating birds. Frequent visitors are Anna’s Hummingbird, Vermilion Flycatcher, Say’s Phoebe, Black Phoebe, Yellow-rumped Warbler and Orange-crowned Warbler. Ring-necked Ducks, gallinules and herons might be seen, and hopefully a few surprises! Leader: Cindy West & Karen Stucke-Jungemann

Meeting place: We will meet outside the Nature Center at Veterans Oasis Park, 4050 E Chander Heights Rd., Chandler, AZ 85249. Find us on the sidewalk near the entrance to the building facing the lake (farthest from the parking lot). From there we may move closer to the lake.
