On May 13,  one of our most in-demand field trip leaders, will focus on the 10 species of woodpeckers that reside in Arizona. Kathe Anderson’s talk will cover their differences, behaviors and habitats.

“Woodpeckers are noisy but interesting birds. How do their brains withstand the impact of the many blows they can deliver to a tree in a second? Why do some have five-inch tongues?” she says.

With this event, the Monthly Speaker Series begins its summer schedule. Presentations will be offered on Zoom only in May, June, July and August. Our hybrid speaker meetings, when guests are invited to attend in person or on Zoom, will resume in September.

Registration for Kathe Anderson’s talk will open on April 9. Watch this post, or follow notices in the chapter e-newsletter.
