Birds & Brew is your chance to get in on some of the best birding in the East Valley with an experienced guide, then chat about what you saw over coffee.
Join us at Birds & Brew Coffee Break on Tuesday, April 22 for a guided walk at Gilbert Riparian Preserve! Then we will head over the Coffee Rush for conversation with Jim Shepherd.
Jim’s lifelong interest in nature started as a boy with birding in his backyard in Chicago and during visits to the Chicago Forest Preserves with our binoculars. “Backyard birding can be just as exciting as taking long trips,” he said. The Coffee Break program will profile up to 12 backyard birds along with some of their calls.
Jim is a 50-year resident of the Valley, a 10-year senior docent at the Boyce Thompson Arboretum, an author, community program presenter, and a recipient of the Sunland Village Earth Day Conservation Award 2024.
Look for us at the main entrance to the Gilbert Riparian Preserve at 7:00 am. for the bird walk. Then at 9:30 caravan to Coffee Rush at Elliot and Val Vista to catch up with each other. Please be sure to pick up a cup of coffee or a snack from our gracious hosts at Coffee Rush. If you cannot do the walk, join us at Coffee Rush!
